Bothar Secures Major Sydney Water Pipeline Project in Western Sydney

Bothar Boring and Tunnelling is working with Sydney Water to deliver Badgerys Creek Stage 2 as part of the Upper South Creek Networks (USCN) Program, which forms part of new wastewater infrastructure needed to support Western Sydney’s rapid growth.

This marks a significant milestone in the company’s growing portfolio of major water and wastewater infrastructure works.

Badgerys Creek Stage 2 forms a key component of Sydney Water’s long-term investment in the USCN Program, delivering wastewater infrastructure to support the rapid growth of Western Sydney, including the emerging Western Sydney Aerotropolis. Once complete, the wastewater gravity pipeline will provide critical wastewater capacity for future residential, commercial and industrial development across one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

The appointment reflects Bothar’s continued expansion within the Australian water infrastructure sector and our reputation for delivering complex trenchless and pipeline projects through collaborative delivery partnerships.

Badgerys Creek Stage 2 will include the construction of approximately 2.2 kilometres of wastewater pipelines, installed by micro-tunnel boring machines through varying ground conditions. A defining feature of the works will be the construction of a 965-metre single micro-tunnelling drive for the DN1500 gravity main, demonstrating the scale and technical complexity of the project. The scope also includes the establishment of access tracks to our work areas and construction compounds, the design and construction of secant pile shafts up to 22 metres deep, Fibre Polymer Composite (FPC) precast maintenance holes, cast-in-situ maintenance holes, and the testing and commissioning of the completed pipeline.
